Privacy & AI

The short version: LCOrals is designed for practice without student accounts or an individual answer history. Here is what happens when you use it.

Your voice stays with your device

LCOrals does not record or store your voice or audio. If you tap the microphone on your keyboard, your device or its dictation service turns your speech into text. LCOrals receives the resulting text, not an audio recording.

When you ask for AI feedback

The text of your answer is sent through the services LCOrals uses to generate feedback. At present, the request goes through Netlify and is processed by Google Gemini. LCOrals does not keep a student account or an individual history of your answers.

Keep personal details out of answers

You do not need to give real full names, email addresses, phone numbers or other unnecessary personal information. For example, if a practice question asks about a friend or family member, a first name or a made-up name is enough.

General site statistics

LCOrals uses GoatCounter to understand general site usage. It is a privacy-friendly analytics service and LCOrals does not use cookies to build personal user profiles.

Feedback and suggestions

If you send a message through an LCOrals feedback or suggestion form, the message you choose to submit is processed by Formspree so that it can be delivered to LCOrals. You do not need to include your name, email address or other personal information.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some Irish-language resources include embedded YouTube videos. LCOrals uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode for these embeds to reduce tracking when the videos are displayed.

Good rule: practise the language, not your personal data. Only include information that is useful for the answer.
