🇫🇷 French practice guide

Practise personal conversation and learn to discuss your own document with confidence.

Start practising French

Choose your practice route

Select Ordinary or Higher Level to match your course. Study Mode offers vocabulary, structures and speaking ideas. Use Exam Mode to practise answering independently. Study prompts are optional support, rather than a script to recite.

Conversation: move beyond one sentence

Choose a topic, listen to the prompt and answer in French. Add a reason, an example or a relevant past or future detail. Select Vérifier to review your answer. Pick one correction to practise aloud before moving to another topic.

Le Document: prepare follow-up answers

Open Le Document, choose a category and describe your document briefly in French or English. Generate possible questions, then practise your answers in French and request feedback. The app uses your description; it does not inspect an uploaded photograph. Prepare to explain who or what is shown, why you chose it and its personal significance. Generated questions are practice suggestions, not predictions of your exam.

Two mock routes

The conversation mock has six questions. The mock with document asks for a description, then combines four conversation questions and two document follow-ups. Answer each question and continue to the final summary. Its percentage is an estimate based on the six submitted answers; it is not a separate official exam grade.

Example: connect a document to your life

Sur cette photo, on voit mon équipe de basket. Je l’ai choisie parce que nous avons gagné la finale. Ce jour-là, j’étais très fier de mon équipe. This identifies the subject, explains the choice and adds a personal reaction. Replace these details with your own.

Speak, dictate and listen

Add the French keyboard in your device settings. Tap the answer box and use the keyboard microphone to dictate, or type your answer. Set dictation to the language you are speaking and check that the transcript matches your words before submitting. If audio is silent, check the device volume and whether your browser has a suitable language voice. Try another browser or device if needed. The “listen to my answer” control reads the submitted text using a synthetic voice; it does not replay a recording of you.

Use feedback to improve your next attempt

The AI reviews your submitted text. It cannot reliably assess your pronunciation, pace or live interaction from a transcript. Treat scores as practice estimates. Check suggestions that seem doubtful with your teacher. Choose one useful correction and one phrase, then answer again aloud in your own words.

A 15-minute practice routine

  1. 3 minutes: choose one topic and prepare a few useful words or a structure in Study Mode.
  2. 5 minutes: answer aloud, submit your response and read the feedback.
  3. 4 minutes: repeat the answer without reading, then practise one more question or task.
  4. 3 minutes: note one improvement and one target for next time.
Use a separate session for a mock. Try the same topic on another day to see whether you can answer more independently.

Before your next session

  • I can understand the question and answer it directly.
  • I can add a relevant reason or example.
  • I have practised one correction aloud.
  • I know which task or topic to practise next.
